To which I explained I don't usually complain about food in restaurants as I understand largely it's a low margin and demanding business. It is worth noting I invited the chef to come and discuss my concerns face to face and the servers refused, and said that we should have told her earlier. Curry is bland, largely same issue as number 4 as well. Besides the ingredient, the fragrance of the curry was not expressed neither, likely not fired properly prior to addition of the other ingredients. There is no significant taste of galangal either, either missing or just very little of it. This was one distinguishing feature LOS had against some general competitors. Again especially missing is the Kaffir lime leaves which most Thai places don't use in the restaurants I have been in the States. This is straight from Wikipedia green curry contains ".green chillies, shallots, garlic, galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, cilantro roots (coriander), and cumin seeds, white peppercorns, shrimp paste and salt." What did I taste? Pretty much none of these things. Honestly one of the most disappointing part is the curries. Texture is wrong due to cutting the broad noodles into nearly square pieces which I can't even pick up since they are sizes of the chicken pieces just fall down from the fork when attempting to pick noodles up. Not colored properly (eg not enough wok heat to color, or possibly under dosing the soy sauce or sugar content leading to same issue). I recall the usage of Kaffir limes on prior occasions, and it is conspicuously absent. Not enough lime juice, which actually seems to be the theme. The chicken (or whatever passes as chicken) was thinly dried and too salty like it was jerky. The fried rice was over cooked and the fried rice kernels are chewy. I am certain of this because there is 5 of us, and only 2 of us even had pineapple. The number of pine apple pieces can be counted on one hand. No pictures to back it up, didn't expect this to have happened. At this moment Archie Thai literally is a Michelin star restaurant compared to LOS. I hope the chef is notified of the feedback, he can feel free to respond to my criticism if he felt there's a explanation and I am open to hearing what he thinks. But the quality and execution of all 5 dishes I ordered today is so far below what's even acceptable for a cheap buffet, let alone a highly rated Las Vegas institution that I had to say something. I understand that not all dishes may be perfect all the time, and that some dishes are a matter of personal taste. The quality I had experienced prior was completely absent in today's dishes. It was so shocking to me that I lodged a complaint with the servers and manager. The food had always been on par with what I had in Thailand. I have to been to Lotus of Siam several times over the year, including when it was in the sketchy little plaza that looked quite dangerous at night. Too much going wrong. This review is only limited to the food. Needless to say, I would not go back to this establishment. Poor experience, I think, as the waiter refused to take ownership of the problem. Some one other than our waiter brought it back. It took them ten minutes to process the check. By this time the other three members in the party had finished their food. The manager came and apologized and told us that she would take 50% off the check. Flagged down the waiter and he stated that the manager is coming. This person came back and told us that the food is coming. Another ten minutes go by and no waiter and no food.įlagged down another person and they went to check. Flagged down the waiter and told him the problem. Five minutes go by and no food for our friend. It took some time for the food to appear. It took a while for the staff to clean our table by the bar.
